Bele Chere 2012
The 34th annual Bele Chere Music & Arts Festival takes place on the streets of downtown Asheville, North Carolina on Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29, 2012. It is the largest free outdoor street festival in the Southeast, featuring original live music and the region's finest art & cuisine.
Check out the official Bele Chere web site for more details, a map, and the schedule of events. Plan for crowds as the festival usually draws 200,000 plus visitors daily.
The name Bele Chere comes from an ancient Scottish dialect that translates as Beautiful Living and was chosen because of the Scotch-Irish heritage of many of the original settlers in the area.
If you stay at our Asheville Bed and Breakfast, you can leave your car in our lighted, off street parking lot and walk to the festival.
Be sure to check out the booth for Chain Free Asheville while at the festival. This organization has been successful at helping chained dogs in the area by "making laws, breaking chains & building fences". See our past blog post about it & visit their web site. Dogs deserve better!
