Fly Fishing in Western North Carolina

Fishing may not be the first thing you think of when you decide to stay at an Asheville Bed & Breakfast, but we are surrounded by some of the best fishing sites in the country.  And, if the art of fly fishing is what you are looking for - look no further than our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

There are many fly fishing outfitters & guides in the area to help you make the most of your fishing experience.  A recent guest at The Lion and the Rose Bed and Breakfast, Bob Pennabere, shared his fishing story along with these two photos:

Bob booked a one day trip with Davidson River Outfitters in Brevard (a short drive from Asheville) and caught 15 rainbow trout ranging in size from 16 to 21 inches on nymphs "something only a fly fisherman would understand" according to Bob.

But you don't have to drive to Brevard to find a fishing guide.  The Hunter Banks Company, a full service fly fishing retailer since 1985, is just a few blocks away from our Bed and Breakfast in Asheville at 29 Montford Avenue.  You can spot it from Interstate 240 by the beautiful mural on the side of the building.
