The festival celebrates the rich musical and artistic heritage found in our one of a kind town in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Each year it has grown in size with attendance exceeding 4000 now and with a hundred vendors of art, food, crafts, native plants, and many other more obscure items that help to make and keep Asheville weird (as many bumper stickers profess).
Music is now performed on two stages and combines a wide diversity of styles. This year the festival featured four time Grammy award winner David Holt & the Lightning Bolts.
In between music sets, festival goers are entertained by "Asheville Shakesperience" (the professional touring company of the Montford Park Players), dancing from the Morris Men and Ashgrove Garland, and the Mountain Lion Chinese Dragon dancers.
Everything, including the music, is free and everyone is invited to come for a day of fun & frolic in Asheville's oldest historic neighborhood.
