Pizza Pura is a new restaurant in the River Arts District (or RAD for short). The owner/operator husband and wife team of Ben Mixson and Laura Reuss also own White Duck Taco, which is very popular with locals and tourists and is also in the RAD.
We have visited Italy and have a family heritage from Naples, so we love pizza. The pizza at Pizza Pura is the best we have had outside of Italy and our Aunt Josephine's.
Laura Reuss is a certified Neopolitan style "pizzaiola" maker. The ingredients are fresh, delicious, and the crust has the scent and flavor of bread baked in a wood fired oven - just like it was over 100 years ago.
One of the secrets of this fantastic food is the mozzarella that is hand pulled daily. In addition, Laura and Ben use organic flour, extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil, and tomatoes from local farms.
Do not expect chain restaurant pizza here - it is nothing like that.
Another big surprise is their home made gelato - it is heaven in your mouth.
Follow this link to their web site for the menu offerings, their hours of operation, and contact information. The atmosphere is casual and there are tables inside or out. And, Pizza Pura is just 2 miles from our bed and breakfast.
