With so many people working remotely these days, a new trend in travel for 2023 is the secret hush workation. Let’s answer some of the frequently asked questions regarding this new travel concept of secret hush vacations.

What is a Secret Hush Workation?

Remote workers that are looking for a change of scenery and wanting a secret working getaway that their boss does not know about. Basically, a work and play vacation.

What does a Secret Hush Work Getaway include?

It depends on the place but here at The Lion and the Rose, your getaway would include everything you need:

  • You are welcome to work from your room, one of our parlors, our front porch, or our backyard firepit garden area
  • Complimentary, fast internet
  • Daily private coffee service delivered to your room by 7:30am
  • Daily breakfast in your room, at an outdoor table on the porch (weather permitting) or join other guests in the dining room
  • Daily afternoon snacks
  • Complimentary pint of our own beer as a welcome drink
  • Access to the butler pantry 24/7 where you find a selection of complimentary teas, snacks, water and sodas. There is a full size refrigerator with freezer and microwave oven for your use should you choose to bring your own food or drinks.
  • Activity and restaurant recommendations for some fun in Asheville
  • Exclusive discount code to save you money on a visit to the iconic Biltmore Estate
  • If you are missing your pup, our friendly Shih Tzus are happy to visit with you

Are there any discounts for a Secret Hush Work Trip?

Yes, we offer an incentive for you to work and stay longer. Stay 7 nights or more and receive 10% off your hush work trip.

Will my boss find out I’m on vacation?

No information about any guests will be shared at any time. We respect everyone’s privacy. No one will know where you are unless you tell them.

Which room(s) would be best suited for my Workation?

All of our rooms have a sitting area and can be used for working in your private room. However, the most comfortable and spacious rooms, Marion Hall and Craig Toms Suite, would be the best choices.

Please keep in mind that we have two parlors you are welcome to use when other guests are out during the day. After breakfast, you are also welcome to use the dining room if you need a larger working space. And if the weather is great, our front porch or backyard fire pit are other options.

Can I get lunch or dinner at the inn?

Although we do not typically provide lunch or dinner, we do have a couple of add-on options. With a little advance notice, we offer a picnic lunch and also a BBQ and fixins’ dinner. You are also welcome to order takeout from one of the many excellent restaurants in Asheville. Grubhub and Uber Eats are popular options for those looking to stay in for lunch or dinner.

We are lucky to have great friends that grew up in Asheville. They have told us about some interesting local hauntings and strange experiences. With Halloween around the corner, we thought this was the right time to share some of these ghost stories and legends of paranormal activity.
